GRAND FINALE!! For today, the 24th, Christmas Eve, Theodora the hamster is tucked up in bed, awaiting Santa's arrival. Wanting to suggest a cosy rustic cabin, the walls have a Nordic like wallpaper, and the bed is covered in a wood print out, same as the floor panels. Felt scraps were used for the pillow, blanket, Theodora's eye cover, and curtains with a window print out for the starry night sky outside. This project has been a great holiday experience-I have ideas already for next year's! Season's Greetings, everyone!

Advent Dollhouse Day 22
For the 22nd, Azul a Macaw hangs out in an more exotic location, an Arabian Palace. Inspired by the music of the Nutcracker, the backdrop is a starry night and the carpeting pages from an interior magazine. The archway is painted in metallic nail polish! I wish I had had more props for this particular box-a lamp or other Eastern treasure perhaps?

Advent Dollhouse Day 21
Today, Cinnamon the German Shepherd pup enjoys a cuppa indoors. Another photo taken from curved angel to create the illusion of a room, the walls are covered in magazine pages, the coffee table some folded cardboard covered in paper and the tea set lent from the girls.

Advent Dollhouse Day 20
Today on the 20th, Hazel the skunk brings home a tree for the entire house! The multi-background pics added a great effect, creating the illusion from forest right up to the doorstep of the house, the brick printout with a quick doodle for the door. And it was great taking the photo from a different angle! The sled was the same cardboard and yarn creation inspired by My Froggy Stuff, with more cardboard panels for the steps up to the door, and the tree a branch cut from a plastic tree.

Advent Dollhouse Day 19
On the 19th, Francis a pedigree puppy doubles checks her Christmas To Do list. The brick prints have made great backgrounds or some cozy indoor scenes throughout this project! The paintings and chimney are downloads from the butwhowillbellthecats.com, stockings are other homely items are magazine cut outs, and felt was used for the floor carpet.

Advent Dollhouse Day 17
On the 17th, Pirouette the Swan (what else was I going to name a swan?) cuts some ice in a frozen cavern. The ice was inspired by My Froggy Stuff's how to make Icicles tutorial, using clear packaging. Yeah, I know, not one of the cleanest presentations in this project, I had trouble getting the icicles into place!

Christmas Display; Once Upon a Christmas
I had the idea for this last year, after watching the truly incredible Marks and Spencer Christmas ad, in which Rosie Huntington Whiteley goes on a magical journey as a number of fairytale characters, from Alice to Dorothy. I wanted to create a Winter Wonderland Woodland scene, with the girls portraying famous characters with a festive twist. I was working on a tight schedule, so the patterns of the garments are all fairly simplistic, and worked with stretch fabric.
The color scheme was based on a monochrome concept, using the black trees against the white snow, and I tried to steer clear of over used holiday shades (kelley green, fire engine red and so on). For a frosty effect I painted the tips of the branches with silver nail polish, and used cotton sheets for the snow, with newspapers bunched up for some variety in the landscape.
The Hansel and Gretel was the first fairytale I wanted to work with, loving the image of the Gingerbread cottage. Mina and Willow as the title roles are indulging in sweets (erasers from Paperchase).
Here, Blair as Little Red Riding Hood drags home a tree. I found the sled in an AC Moore back in the States ages ago, and the tree is a series of cones topped on one another.
Deeper in the forest, Nicole as Cinderella is set in her carriage pulled by white mice to deliver gifts. The ‘gifts’ are cut magazine pages, and the carriage and mice were cut from white foam board. She is given a send off from Esmee as the Fairy Godmother is a frilly pink gown with a netted cloak.
And last, on an icy lake, Hermione wishes to give her Frog Prince a kiss under some mistletoe. The Schleich frog was found on Amazon and tinfoil was used to create the frozen stillness of the water.
I’m so happy to have completed two displays during the creative months proceeding Winter, both Halloween and Christmas. Well, that's it from me and the girls in the Punkee Pixie manor for this year!
Advent Dollhouse Day 16
On the 16th, Ginny the Kitten trims her tree. The tree was inspired by My Froggy Stuff's christmas tree tutorial, and using the same cone structure I used Mardi Gras beads for tree decor, and the paintings on the wall are print outs of some of my favourite book titles.

Advent Dollhouse Day 15
On the 15th, Sofia the Armadillo indulges her sweet tooth with some lollipops. The idea was inspired by the swirl designs on this cutie's head.

Advent Dollhouse Day 14
Today, Satine the Kitten cuts some serious powder on the slopes! The idea for the sled came from My Froggy Stuff's sled tutorial video, and the added curved slope in white made an great downward track.

Advent Dollhouse Day 13
Today on the 13th, Bridget the Puppy is busy decorating gingerbread houses, and tries to sort the scattered sprinkles on the ground. The gingerbread background came from a magazine, and the sprinkles are clear rhinestones.

Advent Dollhouse Day 11
Taking a break from festive overload for the 11th, Aqua the goldfish swims in her tank. Hey, it was always gonna be tough, putting this particular pet in a Christmas scene! Either way, adds a nice twist amongst the boxes.

Advent Dollhouse Day 10
Today on the 10th, out in a greenhouse, Sebastian the puppy checks on some blossoming poinsettias for Christmas. Using a basic window print to create the open illusion of a greenhouse, the poinsettias stand in some thick cardboard wrapped in a brick print for pots.

Advent Dollhouse Day 9
Today features one of my favourite boxes! For the 6th, Velvet a bubbly chinchilla belts her Christmas spirit through carolling. I wanted a refreshing colour palette of purple, metallics and yellow, and the popping carol lyrics add a nice 3D effect.
Monday, 8 December 2014
Advent Dollhouse Day 8
For the eighth, Dinah, a tiny baby weasel, plays on a cloud with a star plucked from the night sky. The background is a night sky print out, covered in gold star stickers, with some cotton wool for a cloud.

Advent Dollhouse Day 7
Today on the seventh, Viola the hamster plays in a flurry of paper snowflakes. This box was one of the first ideas I had for the Advent House, based on one of my favourite childhood books, Jolly's Christmas, about some toys creating their own snow for Christmas, from snow cookies to paper snow!

Advent Dollhouse Day 6
Today, Archie the Parrot withstands the chill of the winter weather as he delivers letters to Santa. The mountain backdrop came from a ski ad, and the sign post makes a nice 3D touch. Archie's mailbag was made from felt.

Advent Dollhouse Day 5
For the fifth, Harley the Bunny hangs a wreath on his front door. To make more depth in the background images, I've extended the wallpaper to cover the insides of the doors.
